J Standards plays Kenny Dorham
Kenny Dorham was one of the great jazz trumpeters of his time. KD was also a wonderful and prolific modern jazz composer, and many of his tunes have made it to jazz standard status. I have the utmost respect and admiration for "KD", and recently, in his honor, I have recorded an album of my favorite KD compositions. The album (engineered by John Finkbiner at New Improved! Studios ) features some of my favorite and some of the most talented musicians in the bay area: Adam Schulman (piano), Eric Markowitz (bass), and Smith Dobson (drums). Below is a selection of KD tunes appearing on my album, which should be out shortly - in Sept 2011.
