The Estate

The Estate, a revolving cast of players, is fronted by singer / song writer, Jesse Tyre Karp, whose self deprecation and quaint insecurity are masked only by his unique Americana anthem style, a swarthy brand of alt-country and unselfconscious rock.
After leaving his first band, Cool Water Canyon, Jesse found himself hanging out with jazz musicians and evolving his sound. Soon The Estate was formed featuring a mix of the best young players from SF, LA, and NYC. Their first album was recorded at Herbie Herbert's (Journey, Santana) studio in San Francisco and showed maturity in Tyre Karp's songwriting and musicianship. Special guests Eric McFadden and Sasha Dobson lent a hand and the result was nine carefully crafted songs and a tour to support.
The single "Boxes" was featured on NPR's All Songs Considered as well as an A&E biography. Jesse frequently performed live versions of his songs on Howard Stern's Sirius Radio 101. The band has traveled throughout the country playing 3 times in a span of 6 months at CBGB's including the night before it closed. The Estate has performed alongside Jackie Green, Dickey Betts, and Blues Traveler amongst others.
"Singer‐guitarist‐main songwriter Jesse Tyre Karp of The Estate has a voice somewhere between G. Love and Tom Waits, while the songs he writes have been compared to early‐Springsteen. The music is a bit more groove oriented than Springsteen, but straight‐ahead rock is definitely the core around which other musical genres are added." ‐ Santa Cruz Sentinel.
